A mid 19th-Century 3½-inch lacquered brass refracting telescope,
signed on the back plate SMITH & BECK 6, Coleman St LONDON, the 39in. (99cm.) long body-tube with dust cap for the objective lense, and rack and pinion and draw tube focusing to the eyepiece extension tube with dust cap, seven various eyepieces, the body tube mounted on two adjustable screws with compass joint to a turned brass column with three folding inswept legs terminating in scroll feet, contained in a comparmentalised oak case with two brass hooks and eyes -- 40 3/8in. (102.5cm.) long
