A good lacquered-brass and black enamelled compound binocular microscope,
signed on the foot W. Watson & Sons, Ltd 313 High Holborn London 66842 with a bar attached stamped "H". Edin. Stud.t, the binocular eyepiece with focusing adjustment to one eyepiece and lateral adjustment with tangent screw to both, the whole with rack and pinion focusing and micrometer fine adjustment, over a mechanical stage, substage condensor and diaphragm, and plano-concave mirror, the main limb tilting on an axis with clamp between two uprights to a tripod foot, with a spare monocular eyepiece tube, pairs of x7, x10 and x20 eyepieces, Watson 2mm, 16mm and 1½in. holos and a 4mm apochromatic objectives, each with a labelled brass canister, and a wooden tray of slide preparation material, in the original mahogany carrying case, the inside of the door with a printed table for magnifications with hand-written data and dated 22/12/38, the case with a leather carrying handle and key, the door with a gilt trade motif of a lion whose body reads WATSONS over BRITISH MICROSCOPE -- 18in.
