A PAIR OF ROMAN GOLD AND GARNET EARRINGS
Circa 2nd Century A.D.
Each boat-shaped, tapering at the ends to wires which form the closure, with a drop-shaped box attached to the front, set with a garnet, the box fringed with granulation, a small loop at the back, with a rigid pendant below composed of a cylinder with two rows of granulation, supporting an inverted pyramidal cluster of hollow spheres, ornamented with bezel-set garnets framed by ribbon and smaller spheres
