A PAIR OF 38-BORE BAVARIAN SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK PISTOLS

With swamped two-stage barrels, silver fore-sights, turned girdles, sighting flats on the breech section, engraved tangs, shaped flat bevelled locks each chiselled in relief with a military encampment on a punched ground and signed along the lower border, moulded figured walnut full stocks carved in relief with scrolls, strapwork, and foliage (minor cracks and bruising), full cast and chased silver mounts decorated in low relief with strapwork and foliage, partly on a punched ground, the trigger-guards with a grenadier, and the side-plates with a gunner and a field gun, spurred pommels, the caps respectively a male and a female portrait bust, engraved silver ramrod-pipes, horn fore-end caps (one later), and horn-tipped ramrods (some wear and scattered surface pitting)
