A PAIR OF 32-BORE SMALL TUSCO-EMILIAN SNAPHAUNCE PISTOLS
Signed Guardiani in Anghiari, No. 1319 and No. 1320, dated 1808
With swamped two-stage barrels each with gold-lined Pistoia mark (Neue Støckel 878) on the top of the octagonal breech, shaped tangs each secured by a bolt with chiselled head in the form of a putto-mask, rounded locks each signed, serial numbered, and dated on the inside, the cocks and steels retained by bolts with putto-mask heads (one cock repaired, the other expertly replaced), moulded figured walnut full stocks (one fore-end repaired) carved in relief with scrollwork and foliage, chiselled iron mounts including scroll side-plates, foliate triggers, and iron ramrods each with bulbous tip
