A George III mahogany striking bracket clock, circa 1760
The case with brass handle to inverted bell top, later sound frets to the sides and front door, the moulded base on block feet, the 8in. wide brass dial with mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with lozenge half hour markers, matted centre with date aperture positioned below XII, above silvered recessed panel signed Jno. Pridham 113, with mock pendulum aperture (unused) unusually positioned above VI, blued steel hands, with strike/silent ring in the arch, the five pillar twin wire fusee movement now with anchor escapement, strike and trip repeat on bell, the back plate engraved with foliate scrolls and with repeat signature, lacking holdfast, secured to the base of the case with bolts -- 19in. (48cm.) high
