2o (602 x 468 mm). Lithographed title and 112 lithographed plates, 47 either partially or fully colored (some spotting and discoloration). Contemporary red half morocco gilt, marbled boards (lightly rubbed).
Although the work was to contain 300 plates and 5 text volumes, BMC states it was discontinued after the 36th livraison of plates and no text was ever published; Brunet and Graesse both call for 25 livraisons of 5 plates each, with no text published. Plates are numbered 1-265 with numerous gaps and suplications of numbering. They show a wide variety of subjects, including birds, fish, ceremonies, hieroglyphics, monuments, architecture, design and topography. Brunet IV:1203; Graesse VI:122.
