A CASED PAIR OF .55 FRENCH PERCUSSION TARGET PISTOLS
Signed Fatou à Paris, early 19th Century
Converted from flintlock, with rebrowned swamped two-stage polygroove rifled sighted barrels signed in gold and with gold-lined barrelsmith's mark 'HR' (Neue Støckel 8163), stamped gilt breech-lines, gilt-copper tangs each cut with initials 'ED', engraved flat locks, figured walnut half-stocks, chequered butts, and engraved gilt-copper mounts including spur trigger-guards and flat circular pommels: in lined and fitted brass-bound case (lid cracked) with accessories, the lining of the lid with stamped gilt signature 'Brun à Paris', the exterior with brass escutcheon engraved with initials 'ED'
