Of gilt metal, finely detailed, the cockerel's right claw on a sphere bearing in raised lettering, FRANCE, the left claw resting on a sword and a quill, all on a tablet, signed Ameling, Graveur, rue Passage du Saumon, bearing motto LIBERTE ORDRE PUBLIC on obverse and reverse, and HONNEUR ET PATRIE and CHARTE DE 1830 on the ends (now mounted as a table-lamp on a large ornate gilt tripod base, the lamp stem passing beneath the tablet)
