AN ILKHANID MOULDED COBALT-BLUE, TURQUOISE AND LUSTRE POTTERY TILE
Probably from Takht-i Sulayman, West Iran, circa 1270-80
The square frieze tile with large lower register moulded with arabesques below a cusped turquoise outlined arch filled with blue inscriptions, the spandrels with simurghs, a border above of stylised kufic divided by palmettes, narrow lower border of simpler similar motifs, intact, lustre somewhat faded
