A FINE AND RARE STAINED IVORY RECTANGULAR PLAQUE
QIANLONG INCISED SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The plaque is intricately carved in shallow relief on one side with a central design of two descending five-clawed dragons flanking a Shou character amidst flames and scrolling clouds, framed by a border with eight sinuous dragons amidst similar clouds, the two at either narrow end confronting 'flaming pearls', the overall design stained with green, blue and red pigments to enhance the details, the reign mark incised on the plain reverse side, minor nicks to the edges
6 5/8 in. (16.7 cm.) long
