A FINE AND RARE STAINED IVORY RECTANGULAR PLAQUE
QIANLONG INCISED SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The centre of the plaque is intricately carved in shallow relief with a writhing front-faced dragon coiled around a 'flaming pearl' and hovering amidst flames and four auspicious emblems above a central rocky peak emerging from undulating, frothy waves, all below a smaller front-faced dragon positioned above similar waves, the scene framed by a border of stylised floral scroll, the edges incised to suggest the fringe of a rug, the details picked out in green, red and blue pigments, the reign mark incised on the plain reverse side
