The rust-red field with overall angular stepped lozenges, in a broad ivory border of linked polychrome lozenge panels between shaded blue stellar flowerhead stripes, areas of wear with minor scattered repiling mainly in the central field, minor repair on outer stripe, selvages rebound

Lot Essay

An almost identical border is found on a Lenkoran rug formerly in the F.R Martin and C.J.Lamm Collections in Sweden, dated "1800 or earlier" (Hali, 44, April 1989, Sailer advertisement, pp.72-73).
