Lot Essay
André-Vincent Viellard pére, recorded at Sèvres as a painter 1752-1790, is known for landscapes painted in the soft earth tones found on the present ewer and basin and on an unmarked ecuelle, cover and stand from the Estates of David M. Daniels and Stevan Beck Baloga, sold Christie's New York, 18 October 2002, lot 401. Indeed, some of the same scenes appear on both pieces.
