A Copeland majolica centrepiece
Late 19th century, impressed mark, impressed YV
Modelled with two long-haired, bare-breasted maidens scantilly clad in mauve and pale-green robes, each supporting a navette shaped bowl on their backs, moulded to the sides with seaweed, a stem of coral between them, the ends of the flowing robes terminating in a mound moulded with four scallop shells, on shaped quatrefoil base (one shell restuck, minor chipping and glaze crazing)
