A Ko Karatsu chawan
18th/19th century
with deep rounded sides, everted rim and short foot, covered in a creamish grey crackled glaze -- 5½in. (14cms) diam, (extensive gold lacquer restoration); and a Kyoto ware koro and pierced metal cover decorated with cream vertical stripes on a greyish olive coloured ground -- 4in. (10.2cms) diam, (chip to footrim).
