Lot Essay

Tériade was a great supporter of the work of André Beaudin, who like Borès, stood in a unique position between the movements of Cubism and Surrealism. Beaudin completed the accompanying illustrations for Tériade's 1960 publication of Gérard de Nerval's Sylvie, and in 1961 Tériade published a monograph on the artist (written by Georges Limbour) in the same style and format to that of the book on Borès, and similarly devoted to his paintings between 1921 and 1961.
