The Mondial, meaning 'world', and one of the few Ferrari models to have a non-numerical title, borrowed its name from that of the four cylinder sports racing cars of the 1950s. Introduced in March 1980, when it was launched in Geneva, the Mondial for the 1980s was instead a 3 litre V8 and served as a replacement for the 308 GT4. Similarly it was of 2+2 configuration, though styling like the other contemporary models was entrusted to Pinin Farina.

A larger car than its predecessor, it provided much more comfort for its passengers and was equipped with Connolly leather upholstery, air conditioning, central locking, electrically adjustable mirrors and power steering as standard, with the option of a sunroof.

Continuing in production for over a decade, initial developments were the addition of Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, while for the 1982/3 models such as this car, the car used the preferred 32-valve Quattrovalvole engine, which produced a potent 240 brake horsepower.

Offered for sale from a private collection, this immaculate Ferrari Mondial was purchased from its first owner 6 years ago. At that time the single ownership had seen just 27,000 miles covered, and few have been added since.

It is rare to see a Ferrari from this period in silver livery, and matched by its black upholstery the combination belies its age. With known history from new and still retaining its original sales brochure, owners manuals, factory tool kit and jack (still in their original rolls) it represents a complete Ferrari package that would make an excellent entry into Ferrari circles for a modest outlay.
