The body-tube has a hinged attachment at the top which contains a prismatic eyepiece. This can be folded into place over the body-tube aperture, has a 0-360° scale around the circumference, and can be turned in either direction. The eyepiece section of the body-tube can be rotated via a toothed gear wheel and worm drive to the substage condensor, which is on a disc graduated 0-360°, arranged to read off an index at the edge of the stage. The body-tube has two sliders for internal lenses, which can be moved vertically, and a hinged magnifier on the outside of the tube. The whole is adjustable via rack and pinion, with graduated micrometer fine adjustment. The stage has a slider contining a lense and an aperture which can be positioned over the stage aperture as desired. Beneath are the substage condensor and plano-concave mirror. The main limb is held on an axis above a U-shaped foot. Accessories include a stage attachment, one eyepiece and 1in. and ¼in. Swift objectives in canisters. The fitted mahogany case has two brass hooks and eyes and a carrying handle.
