AN UNUSUAL SINHALESE KASTANE

The hilt and scabbard entirely of dark horn, the curved single-edged European blade with a single fuller along the back-edge and stamped with the date on each side of the forte, the hilt elaborately carved in relief with running scrollwork, flower-heads, masks, and a deity, the finials and grip-pommel all carved in the form of dragon-heads, the scabbard also carved throughout its length
