A PAINTED TERRACOTTA FIGURE OF A RIVER GOD
19th century, cast after a model by Jean Jacques Caffieri (1725 - 1792)
The naked figure seated on a rocky outcrop, his hair garlanded with reeds and an upturned amphora spilling water into the river at his feet, the base inscribed 'PAR M. CAFFIERI 1759' (foot repaired)
