A SILK TABRIZ PRAYER RUG
North West Persia, circa 1890
The ivory field with flowering tendrils issuing from a polychrome flowerhead terminating with palmettes, extending into a soft rust-red mihrab arch containing palmettes and delicate leafy vine, a shaded celadon-green cross-panel above with angular flowering vine, in a shaded rust-red linked floral spray border between indigo flowerhead and scrolling leaf stripes, with golden yellow scrolling S-motif and reciprocal skittle-pattern minor stripes, good pile throughout, one or two knots missing either end
