Engraved title and 113 double-page plates (some pale marginal dampstaining, few small marginal holes, plate 49 in part two with small split along center fold). (Engraved and letterpress titles remargined, some pale dampstaining.) Contemporary vellum (old patch to spine, hinges cracked). Provenance: sold Sotheby's London, 18 March 1963, lot 140.
FIRST DUTCH EDITION, a translation of the first two volumes of Rheede's Hortus Malabaricus (see previous lot). This edition is not in Stafleu, but the 1720 reissue is. Nissen provides an erroneous plate count. Nissen BBI 1627.
