THREE BYZANTINE REDWARE LAMPS
CIRCA 4TH-5TH CENTURY A.D.
Decorated respectively with a cloaked warrior, a ram looking back at a cross with Alpha and Omega signs, and a Chi-Ro, 5½ in. (14 cm.) long max.; a bronze triple-nozzled lamp, with leaping panther stopper, 7¾ in. (19.6 cm.) wide; a Romano-Egyptian terracotta 'phallic' lamp in the form of a squatting 'Bes' figure, 4¾ in. (12.1 cm.) long, both circa 1st Century A.D.; two smaller plain pottery lamps, one with a Cross relief, Byzantine, circa 4th-5th Century A.D.; another later pottery lamp; an inscribed bronze censer, with incised band around the base reading "M. Skauros Antoninus on behalf of the games"(?), the interior with central loop attachment, on tripod base, circa 1st-2nd Century A.D., 3¾ in.
