The globe is made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores laid on a wooden sphere, with two brass axis pins. The cartouche reads The EARTH published by J.G. Klinger in NUREMBERG. The equatorial and the prime meridian of Fero are graduated in degrees; the ecliptic is shown but not graduated. The oceans are pale yellow, with shading around the coastlines. The Antarctic is labelled ICY SEA with coastline shown for Wilk. Ld. and S. Shetld. (shown as a promontory). The continents are outlined and shaded in green, blue, red, yellow and orange and show details including towns, cities, rivers and deserts. The globe is held in a horizon in the box with an applied hand-coloured paper. The corners are decorated with scroll motifs and the horizon circle around the globe shows compass directions, days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, and degrees in four quadrants. The box has a brass hook and eye and the lid is applied with a (darkened) hand-coloured engraved picture of three children engaged in scientific pursuits with globes and maps. It is entitled Die Erde THE EARTH and is surrounded by a thin strip of impressed paper decoration.
