AN UNUSUAL LARGE BLUE AND WHITE MOULDED FIVE-PIECE GARNITURE
Kangxi (1662-1722)
Each vase of rectangular form with canted corners and moulded with confronted rows of petals at the neck, the baluster vases painted on each face with recessed shaped panels enclosing the flowers of the Four Seasons, chrysanthemum, lotus, peony and prunus, reserved on a diaper ground, the neck and waisted foot with flowering foliage repeated on the domed covers below moulded petals and a lotus bud finial, the beaker vases with flowers of the Four Seasons on the flaring necks and similar flowers enclosed in recessed flower-head-shaped panels over diaper on the square central sections, comprising:
Three baluster vases and covers, a few minor frits and chips, 13¾ in. (35 cm.) high
Two beaker vases, one with rim chip and crack restored, 12½ in. (31.7 cm.) high
Three baluster vases and covers 13¾ in. (35 cm.) high; two beaker vases 12½ in. (31.7 cm.) high
