Each depicting lavish wall architectural wall decoration including animals, fruit and arabesques, numbered I, III, VII, X, XI, XIII, inscribed 'Cai. Savorelli. Pict, etPet. Camporesi Arch. delin.' and 'Joann. Ottaviani sculp. cum privilegio SS.D.N. Clementis PP.XIII', within giltwood frames carved with flowerhead, palmette and ribbon twist

Lot Essay

These luxurious engravings, with trompe l'oeil Roman architecture inspired by Nero's Golden House, derive from the engravings after Pietro Camporesi and others of Raphael's Vatican Loggie published in Giovanni Volpato, Loggie di Rafaelle nel Vaticano, 1772-1776.
