The finely detailed and polychrome-decorated applied carving of this commode follows the example of such celebrated Piedmontese craftsmen as Giuseppe Maria Bonzanigo (1745-1820), Francesco Tanadei, Giuseppe Marchino, Francesco Novaro and Francesco Bolgié, all of whom were working under the royal patronage of Vittorio Amedeo III on the numerous royal commissions for the residences of Stupinigi, Moncalieri, Venaria, Rivoli and most of all the Royal Palace in Turin.
