The polished frieze with central rosette flanked by berried laurel, the moulded borders with scroll terminations to the side returns, raised on two leaf-capped pad feet, stamped to each foot either side of the mounting holes SUM*ERS and I 26, with an iron shoe

Two fenders with conforming friezes, from Great Tew, were sold in Christie's house sale, 27-29 May 1987, lots 5 and 973. Summers is certainly W. & S. Summers of 105 New Bond Street, who is known to have supplied metalwork to George Bullock for the Boulton family of Great Tew (see lots 160-188 which came from Tew).
