Comprising two open armchairs and nine side chairs, each with curved Gothic tablet toprail above a quatrefoil bar splat and red leather covered padded seat, on faceted tapering legs, one armchair probably of later date (11)

Lot Essay

A set of twelve oak dining-chairs with related faceted leg was supplied from Bullock's workshop, following George Bullock's death in 1818, to Sir Walter Scott at Abbotsford under the supervision of William Atkinson and Richard Bridgens (C. Wainwright, et al, George Bullock: Cabinet-maker, London, 1988, p. 79, no. 17).
