A campaign letter, thanking him for two letters and approving his action.

The importance of the siege (of Namur) outweighs a proposal to attack Courtray, and the enemy may shortly attack a weak spot such as Ath, where William has arranged with the Elector (of Brandenburg) to station two Walloon corps, while he asks his correspondent to move some battalions through Brussels, also mentioning the fortifications he is building and sending a memoir (not present) on the available artillery and munitions.

Namur, captured by the French in 1692, was recovered by William III on 1 September 1695. It was his one great victory against the French.
