A GERMAN HUNTING HANGER
Circa 1750
With broad flat fullered blade (scattered surface pitting) double-edged towards the point and etched on each face of the forte with the inscription 'O Vincere O Morire' (worn), heavy gilt-bronze hilt comprising fluted vertically recurved quillons, fluted knuckle-guard interrupted by a cast and chased rocaille, and diagonally fluted handle (bruised at the back) cast and chased in relief with further rocailles and terminating in a monster-head (gilding worn)
