A FRENCH SABRE
Early 19th Century
With slightly curved fullered blade blued and gilt for the last 11in., and decorated with foliage and trophies (now worn and discoloured), brass hilt (loose) showing traces of silver plating, the knucklebow guard engraved '1801' on one écusson, mother-of-pearl grip-scales, the obverse one now with applied silver 'N', and cast lion's head pommel, in a silver-plated brass scabbard with punched decoration and ornate oval ring-bands
