AN ENGLISH SILVER-HILTED SMALL-SWORD
Indistinct London silver hallmarks, perhaps for 1769
With tapering blade of hollow triangular section (rust-patinated) with etched decoration on each face of the forte (some wear), the hilt with shell guard of shaped oval form, and finely pierced, cast and chased in relief with rococo scrollwork and elaborate trophies of arms (pommel distorted), the grip bound with twisted silver wire set alternately with crimped silver ribbon
