A RARE SCOTTISH BASKET-HILTED BROADSWORD
Last quarter of the 17th Century
With straight flattened blade (edges nicked, tip missing) with two short fullers on each side of the ricasso and a broad central fuller on each side of the forte with indistinct 'Andria Ferara' signature, and incised on each side with an orb and cross, iron 'ribbon' guard involving saltires, circular panels, and 'S's, with traces of parallel line engraving, domed pommel, and leather-covered wooden grip (rust-patinated throughout, guard loose, bent, and incomplete)
