A PAIR OF ROMAN GOLD EARRINGS
Circa 2nd-3rd Century A.D.
Each with a hoop of two spiral twisted wires and a plain wire tapering to a single wire at each end and formed into a hook and eye closure, a sheet dome mounted on the hoop, adorned at the base with a row of granulation and a filigree double spiral, with a fixed pendant of three hollow spheres attached to the hoop by an intermediate reel-shaped collar, the spheres ornamented with a fringe and rigid chains of granulation; a modern ear post attached to the hoop
