A ROMAN MARBLE FIGURE OF A BULL
Circa 2nd Century A.D.
Naturalistically-modelled, standing with the right legs advanced with the foreleg raised, the muscular and powerful body with the head turned slightly to the right, the ears held erect along the short curved horns, the poll a mass of curly locks, the small eyes lidded, the nose rounded, the nostrils recessed, the prominent dewlap with rippling folds, the tail curled onto the back, the genitalia detailed, supported by a thick strut on an integral oval plinth
