Lot Essay

Of almost identical size and hence almost certainly connected to the print after Dolci's Martyrdom of Saint Andrew by Carlo Faucci (1729-1784). The painting by Dolci is now in the City of Birmingham Art Gallery (F. Baldassari, Carlo Dolci, Turin, 1995, no. 50).
