In the oil-painting-style, both decorated, probably after Makart, with a scantily clad young maiden with long flowing hair and wearing a red cap, one inscribed Melancholie and the other Una Gitana to the reverse, the dark blue-ground borders enhanced with gilt elaborate foliate ornaments in slight relief, one with alternating landscape panels
