2° (318 x 213mm). Engraved frontispiece portrait of Fletcher (remounted), frontispiece in second state (the fourth line of the inscription altered to 'Vates Duplex', and the signature 'J. Berkenhead' in small print). (Browned and stained, a few leaves with marginal tears, some repaired.) Contemporary calf (rebacked, corners worn); brown half morocco case.
FIRST EDITION. Probably edited by the dramatist James Shirley (1596-1666), this collection contains all the hitherto unpublished plays by Beaumont and Fletcher, except The Wild Goose Chase, the manuscript of this having been lost.
