A Short Sword (Wakizashi) and a Dagger (Tanto)
Edo period (17th-18th century), the first signed Kanekage
The short sword of kanmuri-otoshi-zukuri configuration with iori-mune back and saki-zori curvature, both sides carved with naginata-hi, the forging pattern ko-itame with a gunome choji midare tempered edge and a midare komi tip, tang unshortened with taka no ha file marks and three peg holes, in black-lacquer scabbard with iron kurigata decorated with dragons in gilt, hilt wood; the dagger hira-zukuri, iori-mune, torii-zori and with bonji and Buddhist ken horimono, the forging pattern mokume and the tempered edge gunome midare with the tip small and rounded, the tang unshortened and with one peg hole and cross file marks, in wood storage scabbard
