A fine early 19th-Century brass and ferrous metal model of a Maudsley single cylinder table engine,
with cylinder approximately 1in. bore x 2in. stroke, cylinder head draincock and pipe, centrally mounted steam chest with separate steamways, main stop valve, barrelled connecting rods and shaped crosshead with rollers running in guides supported on four braced doric columns, the floor supported on four arched frames, the crankshaft with faceted cranks, wedged and bolted big ends, belt pulley and spoked flywheel, finished in polished brightwork and mounted on a brass plate and wood plinth -- 35.5 x 15.2cm. (14 x 6in.)
