Stuart Sutcliffe
Five pages taken from Stuart Sutcliffe's art school notebooks comprising:
- three pages of sketches - one the study of a female form in black ink; one the portrait of a man in blue ink, the other a sketch in blue ink of a room interior;
- a page of poetry about death, completed in blue ink;
- a page of doodles in black ink, the doodles of a gallows with a hanging body, one of which has Sutcliffe's third Christian name, Victor, inscribed above it in stylized lettering, a tree with Sutcliffe's surname inscribed to one side as if growing out of the tree trunk, all -- 7½x4½in. (19x11.5cm.), with a clipped piece of paper signed Stuart Sutcliffe -- 1x4½in. (2.5x11.5cm.); and
- two black and white publicity photographs by Astrid Kirchherr of The Beatles in Hamburg circa 1960 [printed later], both -- 8½x11in. (21.6x28cm.) (8)
