A PLAINS WOOD AND STONE EFFIGY PIPE
composed of a wood stem of flattened rectangular section, with small stepped area before the short tubular mouthpiece, a slightly recessed area at the midsection for the grip, and finely carved in high relief with a splayed bear effigy, with grooved mouth and drilled eyes, inset into a steatite bowl, of elbow form with low crest on the shank, decorated with lead inlay
