Both modelled seated, wearing eighteenth century dress decorated in pastel shades and with flowered and gilt decoration, he playing the bagpipes and with a hound seated at his feet, she playing the lute and with a sheep beside her, both with flowering trees behind and on pierced scroll-moulded bases
