CIRCA 1740, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS AND GILDER'S 18. TO BOTH, CUP WITH INCISED ,,
The exterior of the cup and underside of the saucer with a powdered purple ground, the cup with a gilt double-scroll handle, each side reserved with two quatrefoil gilt line cartouches enclosing river-landscapes scenes with merchants by rocks, barrels and packages in the foreground and ships in the distance, the interior with a gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk border, the saucer with merchants on the banks of an estuary with ships and a distant tower, within a quatrefoil gilt cartouche edged with gilt, red and puce scrolls, red diaper panels and puce husks, within a similar gilt border (areas of slight wear)
