The case with foliate ormolu mounts to the concave moulded top surmounted by a foliate cast and gadrooned flambeau urn finials, the arched body with elaborate foliate cast sound panels to the sides, the bombé base resting on elaborate ormolu rococco feet, the dial overlaid with a silver mask inlaid with blue and green translucent enamel in a foliate design, the white enamel Roman and Arabic chapter discs signed FRANCIS PERIGAL Royal Exchange LONDON with pierced and chased ormolu hands, the subsidiary enamel dials in the arch indicating CHIME/NOT CHIME and four tune selection MINUET/GAVOT MINUET/GAVOT, the impressive six pillar triple wire fusee movement with knife-edge verge escapement and chiming the quarters on eight bells and playing one of four tunes at every hour or at will, on ten bells with twelve hammers, the same barrel pinned for the chime and music, a further bell for the hours, the backplate signed FRANCIS PERIGAL ROYAL EXCHANGE LONDON within a foliate cartouche and within further extensive foliate engraving, pendulum holdfast to the right side of the backplate, the movement with similarly engraved brass securing brackets
