A William and Mary walnut and floral marquetry longcase clock

The hood with rebuilt stepped top and later pierced brass fretwork panel, now with ebonised inset columns with brass capitals (formerly with twist columns), convex throat mouldings, the trunk door with moulded frame and with marquetry reserves of flowers and angels around a brass-lined lenticle glass, line inlays to the sides, on shortened plinth with floral marquetry panel and later skirting, the 11in. square brass dial engraved with foliate scrolls and scored lines to the borders, signed along the lower edge Chr. Gould Londini fecit, with cherub mask spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with sword-hilt half hour markers, the matted centre with engraving around the date aperture and to the centre, with subsidiary silvered seconds ring, ringed winding holes and blued steel hands (later hour, minute half lacking), the five ringed pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike on bell; movement and dial associated to case, circa 1695
