('Presented ... as a small token of his very sincere regard & esteem By the Author'; flyleaf and title inscriptions) -- bookplate with motto 'suscipiant montes pacem'. PRESENTATION COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION, of the first systematic description of the Thugs, an organised fraternity of profession murderers.
