A good early 19th-Century lacquered-brass 4-inch astronomical telescope,
signed on the backplate DOLLOND*LONDON, the 60-inch long body-tube with lens cap, starfinder, rack and pinion focusing and one telescopic support rod, with eyepiece extension tube, one terrestrial and three astronomical eyepieces, in a fitted mahogany carrying case with key and decorative escutcheon -- 164cm. (164 5/8in.) wide, with a large mahogany stand, of tripod form, the legs braced with crossed struts, on brass feet with one levelling screw, the telescope mounted in a brass cradle over a bubble level and graduated vertical half-circle with vernier, over an equatorial circle at a 38° angle, with vernier, worm gear adjustment, clamp and mahogany handle -- 180cm. (70 7/8in.) high
